What is Global Wind Day?
Global Wind Day is an event designed to raise worldwide awareness of wind energy. On June 15, 2009, thousands of public events will be organized simultaneously all around the world. Join with others in the U.S. and more than 30 other countries to show your support for wind energy, and learn more about how wind power works as a solution to climate change and is a smart investment that pays off today and in the future.
Celebrate Global Wind Day by speaking out for clean, homegrown renewable energy in the U.S.!
Why does wind matter to you?
For some people, it means a good job with long-term potential. For others, it's about clean air & water in their community. It's also a way to increase our energy independence from foreign countries and reduce our personal and collective carbon footprint.
Right now in the United States, members of Congress are voting on a national renewable electricity standard (RES) that could bring more wind power and other clean, renewable resources to the electricity grid. But significant challenges threaten this important national commitment and many members of Congress are still undecided about their votes.
Speak out! Submit a photo or a comment to AWEA’s visual petition. Show the world why wind matters to you.
