Totally reusable greeting card printed with WIND POWER

Wind power allows many of us in the graphic design industry to fully realize a vertical process, elegant in recycling and evironmental responsibility, from beginning to end.

In the paper and greeting card industry, we have seen that the knee jerk reaction to recycling and responsible action seems to be to stop using paper.
The paper and forestry companies have done MANY things to place them foremost in responsible recycling and reforesting.

With the advent of wind power in the printing industry, 100 % post consumer waste papers, vegetable inks and thoughtful design we can not only make a difference, but change the way our industry operates, and is perceived.

The greeting card pictured in the photo is original artwork...the front cover is perforated to become a postcard for a reply or a second sending forwarded to someone else entirely. The card is printed by JS McCarthy Printers in Maine, with certified wind power on 100% post consumer waste stock using vegetable based inks.

Wind energy, particularly, offshore wind, matters to me because it is one of the few large scale options for renewable energy in the Southeastern United States. When it comes to renewable energy, one size does not fit all in this country. We need to optimize our clean energy deployment for each region of the country. When it comes to wind, don't count the South out just because our land based resources are limited. Offshore wind can contribute in a significant way given the national political will to make it so.

Mostly, it is absolutely necessary to reduce global warming gases. But more, it's part of my job, it's fun, and it's really cool engineering.
