Second Wind's field trip to the Forbes Lofts, Chelsea, Massachusetts

On my first day of work at Second Wind, we took a field trip over to a local wind turbine at the Forbes Lofts. The taller kid in the front is my son Sean. Wind energy matters to me because it is the only way out of our current mess. I am proud to be working towards a more sustainable future and proud to share this reality with my son.

Derek Sabin of Sustainable Energy Developments, Inc. performs an annual maintenance on a Bergey 10 kW turbine in Oneida, NY

Wind matters to me because through my job I am able to help those that have wind as an available resource harness it. This clean renewable resource is available locally, and it is a great feeling when I have the ability to help individual homeowners, farmers, and business owners ease their impact on the grid, and in some cases even supply this clean energy to the utility.

Sustainable Energy Developments, Inc. staff celebrate completion of wind project at Jiminy Peak Ski Resort in Hancock, MA

The company I work for (SED,Inc.) has been helping individuals, businesses, farms and schools put up wind turbines at their sites for the past seven years. In that time, we have completed projects for the first wind turbine at a ski resort in the US and the first commercial wind turbine on Cape Cod, among other notable projects. One turbine at a time, small and large, we are helping reduce carbon emissions and helping people become more energy sustainable and independent. Our company also continues to grow and hire more people, showing that renewable energy companies can lead the way in job creation in this country. Wind energy deserves support and promotion at all levels. It's clean; it's renewable; it's the future!

Southwest Windpower employees prepare to raise one of our Skystream small wind turbines outside our factory.

Wind power brings jobs and non-polluting, abundant energy to communities across the United States. Small wind turbines supply energy directly where it’s needed: to homes, businesses, schools and any location that uses energy and has plenty of wind. Wind power represents a positive future, and small wind manufactures like Southwest Windpower provide diverse employment opportunities. We employ staff in production, engineering, accounting, purchasing, sales, marketing, quality control, customer service, technical support and many more areas. Working in wind power was a dream of mine for years. Now I’m living it.
